Hello, welcome! My name is Michelle McKenzie ​and I am based in East Kilbride in Scotland.


I’ve struggled with debilitating anxiety for over ​10 years and have found myself in the depths of ​depression a number of times. I understand ​and empathise with anyone who has ever ​suffered with their mental health.


I studied with the prestigious Clifton Practice ​and gained my Diploma in Solution Focused ​Hypnotherapy in June 2023.

Initial Consultation


We begin with an Initial Consultation. During this we will discuss your goals and ​expectations, and I will explain how the process works. It is a chance for you to ​explain your reasons for seeking help, and we will go over your personal and medical ​history. I will explain how the brain works, helping you to understand why you feel the ​way you do. This has been a light bulb moment for many clients. This session takes ​around 45 minutes, no trance is done in this session. You will receive my ​hypnotherapy recording that you can start listening to each night when going to ​bed.


Hypnotherapy Sessions


After the Initial Consultation, each session will last around 60 minutes. In a typical ​session I will teach you all about your brain and the workings of the mind. I will help ​you understand why you feel the way you do, and I will explain the neuroscience. This ​information will empower and support you. We will then discuss your goals and the ​positive changes you want to see. Finally, I will guide you into a state of deep ​relaxation to end the session. During this, all of the positive changes you wish to ​make will be working away in your subconscious mind. Each session is tailored to ​your unique needs, ensuring that you get the most benefit possible.


Ideally, I will see you once a week and I usually see clients for 8 - 12 sessions.


Stop Smoking or Stop Vaping Sessions


This session includes an Initial Consultation. It will last from 60-90 minutes and only ​one session is required. Combined with the regular use of the hypnotherapy ​recording provided and full commitment to change, you can move forward in your ​life as a non-smoker for good. This session can be used to stop smoking cigarettes ​or to stop vaping.


Relaxation Sessions


Join me for a 30 minute session where I will help you to connect to your body and ​relax. I will then guide you into a deeply relaxed state where you can let go of any ​stress and tension.


Hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool for relaxation, helping you to reduce stress and ​promote overall well-being.

What is Hypnotherapy?


Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis with talking and listening therapy. ​Hypnosis, also referred to as a trance, is a natural state of being. It is a deeply ​relaxed state that we all go in and out of several times a day. During hypnotherapy, ​you are guided into a hypnotic trance by a trained hypnotherapist who then uses ​the power of suggestion to help you make positive changes in your life.


What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?


Solution focused hypnotherapy is a forward looking type of therapy, we don't focus ​on the reasons you have come for help, we work together to find small steps you can ​take towards your desired future. It puts you in control by giving you the tools to ​make the necessary changes in your life. You can have the life you desire, anything ​is possible.


Do you work with children?


Yes, I work with children from age 8, as well as, teenagers and adults. I am a PVG ​scheme member and can provide a copy of my Statement of Scheme Membership ​on request.


What can solution focused hypnotherapy help with?


Solution focused hypnotherapy can help with so many things! This list is nowhere ​near exhaustive, so if there is anything you are struggling with that isn't mentioned, ​please do get in touch.


It can help with anxiety, panic attacks, low mood, low self-esteem, irritable bowel ​syndrome (IBS), migraines, chronic pain, weight loss, stopping smoking or vaping, ​fears and phobias, anger, stress, nerves before an event - this could be a sporting ​event, interview, exam, anything you are feeling nervous about.


Will I lose control during hypnosis?


While in hypnosis, you remain in complete control. You can move any parts of your ​body, you can open your eyes and get up at any point. Forget what you know about ​stage hypnosis, this is completely different. I won’t have you clucking like a chicken ​or eating an onion that you believe to be an apple.


How long does a session last?


We will start with an Initial Consultation, this lasts around 45 minutes. Each session ​after that will last up to 60 minutes. A smoking cessation session lasts around 1.5 to 2 ​hours, we do the Initial Consultation as part of this.


How many sessions will I need?


Everyone is different, so it is difficult to put a number on this. On average we say 8 - ​12 sessions but some people need a lot more. According to a study published in the ​European Journal of Social Psychology, it takes anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a ​person to form a new habit. The same study also concluded that it takes an average ​of 66 days (almost 10 weeks) for a new behaviour to become automatic. I have had ​clients finish up after 7 weeks, completely changing their life around, I've also had ​clients who needed 14+ sessions - it really is an individual thing. You will know when ​you have had enough sessions.


Where did you train?


I trained with the prestigious Clifton Practice in Edinburgh from September 2022 until ​June 2023. It was 10 months of training; I attended one weekend a month and ​worked with clients from the very first month. I was awarded a Diploma in Solution-​Focused Hypnotherapy in June 2023.
